The program provides a robust schedule of teaching conferences and structured learning experiences, as well as funding to attend national events.

Numerous conferences occur throughout the year which fellows are encouraged to attend. 

  • Benign Hematology Tumor Board
  • Regional Pediatric Tumor Board
  • Regional Pediatric Blood Club
  • CCR psychosocial Conference
  • Joint conferences between Pediatric Hematology and Oncology and Infectious Disease, Emergency Medicine, and Surgery
  • Journal Club
  • Hematology/Oncology Hemoglobinopathy Lunchtime Lecture Series
  • Division and Department Morbidity & Mortality Conference

Fellows are also given the opportunity to attend Department of Pediatric Grand Rounds, Pediatric Resident Morning Report, Perinatal Conference, MADAM Conference, and the Pediatric Research Colloquium.    

National Conferences

Fellows are funded to attend one national conference per year. Typically, the first-year fellow attends ASPHO, the second-year fellow attends ASH, and the third-year fellow attends COG, but this is flexible. In addition, fellows are encouraged to submit abstracts and attend additional conferences in which their abstracts are accepted for presentation.
